Moving to a separate pre-amplifier and power amplifier offers another level of refinement to enthusiasts looking to upgrade from an integrated amplifier, or those looking to build a reference-grade system. A two-box set up enables the pre and power amplifiers to be run by separate power supplies resulting in a cleaner signal as the inductive effects of the large currents in the power amplifier are isolated from the sensitive components of the pre-amplifier. The Pre2 DAC - Philosophy The Pre2 DAC separates the pre amp into its own chassis and provides a dedicated power supply which means the pre amp can resolve more detail. Complete with a built-in DAC, the pre amp is compatible with a very wide range of sources such as CD players, streamers or your TV digital audio out. The Pre2 DAC offers a sonic step up in performance from our integrated amplifiers. This is achieved because the pre amplifier circuitry has its own power supply. The internal power supply provides isolation from the demands of other system elements, making available an additional level of dynamics and resolution. The digital section also sounds better for the same reasons, especially when used with the optional Qx card, the audio quality rises further still. If a PSX R2 is connected, owners will hear a large jump in performance as the PSX R2 feeds the pre amp with a highly regulated and super smooth DC feed. The sonic uplift from the PSX R2 means the close tolerance components in the pre amp can be fully appreciated as they now benefit from the smoother supply. The Pre2 DAC includes a carefully designed top quality digital section built into the pre amplifier with a Burr Brown 24-bit/192k DAC and a carefully designed power supply. With 5 digital inputs that enable the amplifier to connect and clearly improve the sound of connected digital sources including; your computer, DVD player, TV and many other digital sources. In the QXR version, in which we use a new ESS-based DAC, as well as allowing input resolutions up to 32bit/ 768k, we have also introduced a new ‘reclocking’ process across all the digital inputs. This substantially reduces jitter and lowers the noise floor, as well as allowing a much shallower filter slope than ever before. This process virtually eliminates phase interference in the audible band (an approach only previously possible with noisy FPGA DAC solutions). The Pre2 DAC is designed to be partnered with one of our matching power amplifiers such as the X Power, Stereo 200 or Mono X 300 Signature. Build your system with a CD i or CD t and a Stream X Signature or Stream Xa for an exceptional music experience. Add a dedicated power supply such as the PSX R2 to further enhance the pre amp’s resolution. The Pre2 DAC QXR is a standard Pre2DAC with the new QXR digital card pre-installed. This new card improves the sound quality across all the digital inputs, increasing the possible input resolution to 32bit/ 768k (DSD 512) through the USB connection. Using a new ESS-based DAC, we have also introduced a new ‘reclocking’ process across all the digital inputs, to reduce jitter and lower the noise floor, as well as allowing a much shallower filter slope than ever before, virtually eliminating phase interference in the audible band (an approach only previously possible with noisy FPGA DAC solutions).

The 82DAC QXR is our highest performing integrated amplifier. With a complete set of digital and analogue inputs, you can connect virtually any source and output directly to your speakers. The powerful amplifier has an instantly impressive ‘grip’ on even large loudspeakers. Through carefully tuned components and our unique circuit layout, the 82DAC provides a clear ‘window’ on recordings, revealing layers of detail and complexity in the music that lesser amplifiers simply can’t achieve. 82DAC QXR has no less than six analogue inputs. A high-quality headphone amplifier, Zone 2 and pre amplifier outputs give the 82 DAC flexibility for connecting a wide variety of audio devices. There is also a PSX R2 port on the 82 DAC allowing connectivity of the instant upgrade off-board power supply. The 82DAC QXR has the new QXR digital card pre-installed. The 8.2 DAC QXR sounds clear, dynamic and musical, offering power and control that allows it to drive even demanding sound transducers and provide rich volumes without losing its agility and transparency.”
A refined and elegant integrated amplifier with a long pedigree, the 6 DAC QXR is instantly impressive beyond its diminutive dimensions. Musically, it has been tuned and refined over decades to deliver outstanding precision, clarity and control of loudspeakers. The 6DAC QXR has our new QXR digital card pre-installed, increasing the possible input resolution to 32bit/ 768k (DSD 512) through the USB connection. Using our QXR DAC, we have also introduced a new ‘reclocking’ process across all the digital inputs, to reduce jitter and lower the noise floor, as well as allowing a much shallower filter slope than ever before, virtually eliminating phase interference in the audible band (an approach only previously possible with noisy FPGA DAC solutions). 6Dac Design Philosophy The 6 DAC QXR and its sibling the 82 DAC QXR are conceived to be the hubs to your entire audio system. The aim was usability, simplicity and refinement. Supplied with the full iR14 remote control unit, it’s possible to connect almost every analogue and digital source through this highly competent unit. The bi-wire output of the 6 DAC QXR gives a full 57 Watts into 6 ohms. The power supply is a high current design that uses two transformers to completely separate the digital control stages from the sensitive audio signals – an approach usually reserved for pre/power combination amplifiers. We use ESS-based silicon in the DAC, but with some very clever noise shaping and filter processing. QXR allows input resolutions up to 32bit/ 768k. We have also introduced a new ‘reclocking’ process across all the digital inputs. This substantially reduces jitter and lowers the noise floor, as well as allowing a much shallower filter slope than ever before. This process virtually eliminates phase interference in the audible band (an approach only previously possible with noisy FPGA DAC solutions).
The Pre-XR is one of the first wave of products, heralding the new XR series of Cyrus components. The familiar Cyrus precision die-cast case is the same, but everything else has changed. Featuring low background noise and high dynamic range, the phono stage is a perfect complement for a quality vinyl turntable source.
The CDt-XR is designed as a reference CD transport, building on the legacy of the CDt and the CD XT Signature models, but incorporating many novel technologies developed in-house at Cyrus over recent years. Housed within our iconic half-width chassis. The CDt-XR sits above the existing CDi and CDt models, offering a substantive performance upgrade. Listeners will notice a dramatic lowering of the noise floor, bringing enhanced clarity and nuanced detail, brought about through significant design improvements in many areas, yet the characteristic ‘Cyrus-sound’ has been retained. Transport / Servo Several years ago, Cyrus invested heavily in developing our own in-house CD ‘Servo’ mechanism, our ‘Servo Evolution’. The design principle is to read as much information as possible from the disc itself first time, rather than having to rely on ‘re-reads’ or ‘error-correction’. Whilst it is true that the data on a CDs is stored in ‘1s and 0s’, the way it is read, using picking up different frequencies of reflected light, has analogue elements to it. Therefore, precision engineering can improve the performance. Off-the-shelf mechanisms produce significant ‘system noise’ when the stepper motors of the mechanism are required to be used during the error correction processes when the data was not picked up on the first pass. Our ‘Servo-Evolution’ system reduces these re-reads and corrections by around 20%, producing not only a cleaner data stream, but significantly less noise. Internal Power Supply The CDt-XR, like all products in the XR series, has had a complete overhaul of the power supplies to each circuit section. The power supplies are much stiffer and have enabled the Cyrus engineers to the get the remarkable SE engine to run even more quietly. Containing Noise Upgraded components along with intelligently designed circuits using ‘counter-current’ methodologies to reduce noise pickup are in evidence throughout the design. The fundamental principle is that power starts at the ‘quietest’ part of the circuit, before flowing towards the ‘noiser’ sections. Less noise is therefore ‘carried’ or induced into the power paths, limiting the transmission of noise inside the product. Whilst this sounds logical, the application in practice is incredibly complex, and needs to be considered at a system-wide level. Even the geometric alignment of individual components has been optimized to facilitate the cleanest possible flow of power and musical signal. Special Considerations A key improvement in the CDt-XR is the re-clocking of the digital signal just before it exits the case. Although noise and timing accuracy are both carefully managed throughout the circuit, this final re-clocking ensures the absolute purity of the outbound digital signal through both the optical and coaxial connections. It’s worth noting that whilst an integrated CD player offers exceptional value and, although the CDi-XR is as close to ideal as technology reasonably allows, the presence of a DAC circuit in the same case, means the sound can never be as ‘absolutely’ clean as that from a dedicated transport. That, coupled with the fact that the integrated and pre-amplifiers in the XR series, all have pristine on-board Gen 2 QXR DACs, means the CDt-XR is, when used with a complete Cyrus system, the connoisseur’s choice
The CDi XR is designed as a reference integrated CD player, building on the legacy of the CDi and incorporating many novel technologies developed in-house at Cyrus over recent years. Housed within our iconic half-width chassis, The CDi-XR sits alongside above the existing CDi and CDt models, offering a substantive performance upgrade. Transport / Servo Several years ago, Cyrus invested heavily in developing our own in-house CD ‘Servo’ mechanism, our ‘Servo Evolution’. Whilst this sounds logical, the application in practice is incredibly complex, and needs to be considered at a system-wide level. Even the geometric alignment of individual components has been optimized to facilitate the cleanest possible flow of power and musical signal. The DAC has been housed on its own shielded section of the PCB, again to help contain noise transfer Second Gen QXR DAC The DAC in the CDi-XR is our own second-generation QXR DAC platform with a key notable difference in its implementation. As a DAC usually has to handle a multitude of possible resolutions and input paths, their design is always a slight compromise on the best possible configuration for any particular source. In the CDi-XR, however, we know exactly which resolution is going to be received (44.1kHz, 16bit) and the incoming signal path that data is going to travel. As a consequence, we are able to calibrate our QXR DAC with incredible precision. We are able to optimize, not just the inbound data path and the data conversion itself, but also the filtering stages of the DAC to render the finest analogue output possible. Internal Power Supply The CDi-XR, like all products in the XR series, has had a complete overhaul of the power supplies to each circuit section. The power supplies are much stiffer and have enabled Cyrus engineers to get the remarkable SE engine to run even more quietly.
Cyrus CD players have a history of class-leading performance, but none have so consistently wowed critics as the remarkable CD i. Judged the best CD player for four consecutive years by What Hi-Fi? Magazine. The CD i is without doubt one of the most influential integrated CD players ever designed. You’ve never really heard your CDs until you’ve listened to them on a CD i. Our CD players are better because they generate far less background noise than most. We call this our SE or Servo-Evolution technology. The principle itself is quite simple. Usually the laser mechanism (servo) which reads the data from a disc makes tiny movements side to side quite quickly to re-read miss-read data – this create ‘servo noise’ and that impacts the ‘noise-floor’ limiting the quality of the sound output. The principle objective with our CD players is to extract the data on the disc as accurately as possible the first time – and that is only possible through some very careful design and calibration in both the hardware and software elements of the player. The CD i is our ‘integrated’ model in the range, including a built in ‘Digital to Analogue’ converter, converting that digital data into a beautiful analogue signal, using an extremely refined 32bit DAC.The circuit of the CD i has been designed in 2 discrete sections, allowing the product to be upgradeable through the addition of our separate power supply (the PSX R2). This addition completely isolates the DAC section of the product, improving timing and eliminating any intermodulation which can impact the delicate analogue signals output. Whilst not necessary for outstanding performance, this addition is a valuable upgrade for the serious audiophile. Our award-winning Phono Signature phono stage is lauded as one of the best at any price.Designed and Manufactured in the United Kingdom.A phono stage is one of the most critically sensitive products in hi-fi. Because the signals produced by the needle are so small, they need to be amplified many thousands of times. Consequently, the signal path has to be perfectly clear of inductive fields, each individual component has to be best in class and of the utmost quality. The rewards though, for getting it right, are legion. Phono Signature has been designed to allow up to four turntables to be permanently connected because many vinyl enthusiasts enjoy multiple turntables, arms or cartridges for different records. It is also possible to calibrate each input separately from the comfort of your armchair. Each of the four inputs can be accurately matched to the exact specification of the cartridge and the acoustic preference of the user. Adjustment is provided for MC cartridges in; gain, resistance and capacitance. In addition, a switchable warp filter is provided to maximise amplifier performance.

Cyrus has a prestigious history of high-fidelity amplifier design. For more than 30 years we have crafted some of the world’s finest audio components. The finest of them all is the Mono X 300. Engineered from scratch using our in-house developed Zero Feedback technology, the Mono X carries both prodigious power and exceptional control. Capable of driving the world’s most demanding speakers, the Mono X is the crown prince of power amplifiers. You will need two of these bad boys. As the name implies, the Mono X 300 amplifies only one signal. By separating the amplification of the left and right channels into two separate boxes, each has its own reserves of power, and the possible noise and interference that one channel can have on the other is greatly reduced. Our best power amplifier, the Mono X 300 Signature can provide an enormous 319 Watts of power to your speakers (through 6 Ohms). Our Zero Feedback technology means that the sound coming out of the amp is exactly the same as the one going in – just bigger. The amplification processes inside this handcrafted Cyrus chassis have been expertly engineered with complex circuitry making sure that the output is powerful and precise. Mono X 300 Signature contains a 305VA ultra-low noise transformer and through our expertly engineered circuitry we ensure that nothing is added to the signal as it passes through the amplifier. As music volumes drop, it becomes increasingly important that the only sound being issued from a hi-fi system is the music itself. Our Zero Feedback technology means that in tests, our best power amplifier produces negligible distortion at low volume. To maintain the precise sound quality Cyrus is known for, but ensure adequate ventilation of our power amps, we’ve developed a smart cooling system for the Mono X 300 Signature. This system only activates the fan when it’s needed – when you’re listening at high volumes. When the volume drops or silences are detected, the fan automatically switches off so there’s never any unwanted background noise.
The X Power can be used in multiple scenarios. Most typical would be in a Pre / Power system with Pre₂ DAC or Stream XP₂. Also compatible with integrated amplifiers in bi-amped stereo configuration. The fixed gain structure enables compatibility with any Cyrus amplifier. Beneath the understated exterior of the X Power lies a powerful, passionate heart of pure soul. Capable of reproducing a huge dynamic range, the X Power delivers pin-point precision and dimension-defying power with aplomb. Used with one of our own pre-amplifiers, the X Power makes a great first step on the separate pre-amplifier / power amplifier path. As the X power can operate in mono or stereo mode, when you want a bit more from your system, you can purchase a second X-power and switch both to mono mode, each delivering up to 181 watts of power.
