Magnat MTT 990 Πικάπ Direct-Drive με κεφαλή AT95 Μαύρο. Ο direct τρόπος για καλό ήχο Η αναλογική αναπαραγωγή μουσικής δεν είχε εξαφανιστεί ποτέ ακόμη και σε περιόδους ψηφιοποίησης. Συχνά οι audiophiles προτιμούσαν τον  ήχο ενός δίσκου. Αυτό δεν ισχύει μόνο για τις γενιές που γνώρισαν την κορύφωση της δισκογραφικής βιομηχανίας τη δεκαετία του '70 και του '80, αλλά και για τους νεότερους που μεγάλωσαν με την κουλτούρα του DJ. Οι συζητήσεις που αφορούν την αρχή της καλύτερης περιστροφής του δίσκου, belt ή direct-drive,  είναι σχεδόν τόσο παλιές όσο η ίδια η συσκευή αναπαραγωγής δίσκων . Η direct-drive ακούγεται πιο δυναμική στο ιδανικό σενάριο και έχει καλύτερο συγχρονισμό. Ωστόσο, λόγω του ότι ο κινητήρας βρίσκεται απευθείας στο πικάπ και επομένως πρέπει να λειτουργεί εξαιρετικά ομαλά, είναι πολύ πιο περίπλοκος και επομένως πιο ακριβός.
