The Prophet Rev2 from Dave Smith Instruments is a reenvisioning of the Prophet ’08 poly synth that retains and expands upon all of the main features of the original. It has the same polyphony - 8 voices, as well as twice the mod matrix. Also included is waveshape modulation on all waveforms and digital effects per layer in split or stacked voice mode including delays (bucket-brigade and standard), reverb, distortion, phase shift, chorus, and ring modulation. The Desktop module version is for those looking to save a bit of space in their studio. It contains all the features of the keyboard version minus the actual keyboard. The polyphonic step sequencer allows one to sequence up to 6 notes per step for a length of 64 steps. Different sequences can be used for each layer when working in split or stacked voice mode, aiding in composition or performance.Features:Desktop Module Version2 DCOs per voiceAnalog VCAsMulti-slope VCF3 envelope generators4 LFOs8-Voice PolyphonyWaveshape ModulationPoly Step SequencingProgrammable arpeggiator512 Factory Programs (4 banks of 128) and 512 fully editable User Programs with 2 layers (2 separate sounds) in each ProgramSpecifications:4x Line outputs: 6.3 mm jack unbalanced (A / BL / R stereo)MIDI in/out/thruSustain pedal inputPedal/CV input - for expression pedal or CV of 0-5 V DCUSBHeadphone output 6.3 mm stereo jack
The Pro 2 is a fusion of classic analog synthesizer design and cutting-edge digital technology. It boasts four high-resolution digital oscillators, plus a sub oscillator. The oscillators produce both classic and complex wave shapes and can frequency and amplitude modulate each other in any operator and modulator configurations you choose for harmonically-rich FM and AM sounds. A set of Character controls adds high and low frequency boost, bit and sample rate reduction, and tape saturation emulation to the Pro 2′s sonic palette.Features:Four DSP-based oscillators plus one sine wave sub oscillator. Four classic wave shapes (saw, square, triangle, sine) per oscillator. Twelve selectable complex shapes per oscillator. Thirteen Superwaves. Three noise types per oscillator: white, pink, violet. Shape modulation/pulse width/superwave detune amount. Oscillator cross modulation: frequency modulation (FM) and amplitude modulation (AM). Hard sync, individual Glide, Oscillator Slop. True 4-voice paraphonic mode with individually-gated envelopes per oscillator. Five high-quality digital effects. Thicken the signal and add harmonics or completely destroy the signal pre-filter.. Dual analog filters operate in serial or parallel. Tuned feedback. Five Delay + ADSR envelopes (Filter 1, Filter 2, VCA , and two Auxiliary envelopes). Four syncable LFOs with phase offset and slew per LFO. 16 x 2 modulation matrix with over 50 mod sources and over 140 mod destinations. Four 1-volt-per-octave control voltage inputs and outputs for interfacing with modular synths and other CV-compatible devices. Advanced step sequencer with two modes: 16 steps x 16 tracks or 32 steps x 8 tracks. Sophisticated arpeggiator with up, down, up+down, random, assign modes. Stereo analog distortion. More than 50 knobs and 65 buttons enable deep and comprehensive editing with minimal menu diving. 396 user and 396 factory programsSpecifications:1 MIDI In, 1 MIDI Out, and 1 MIDI Thru/Out 2 portUSB port for bidirectional MIDI communication4 CV inputs (4 x 1/8″ jack)4 CV outputs (4 x 1/8″ jack)1 Gate Out (1/8″ jack)1 Sustain/footswitch input1 Expression pedal input1 External audio input (1/4″ phone jack)Main stereo output (2 x 1/4″ phone jack)Headphone out (stereo 1/4″ phone jack)1 universal IEC AC power inlet for internal power supplyOperates worldwide on voltages between 100-240v, 50-60Hz, 30 watts maximum power consumptionWalnut end panels and trim74.2 cm x 32.5 cm x 10.5 cm8.5 kg
The Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08 Pot Edition Eight-Voice Analog Synthesizer offers an alternative with 38 of the 52 front panel parameters controlled by pots (potentiometers); rotary encoders are still used for the remainder of the controls. The Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08 Pot Edition is exactly the same as the non-pot version. The difference is strictly in the controls themselves. Encoders are “endless”—they have no minimum or maximum limit. The advantage to that is that when you edit a preset parameter, the change begins at the preset value and increases or decreases, depending upon the direction turned.Pots typically have about 270° of travel and have definite limits. The advantage to that is that you know, by feel, where the minimum and maximum limits are and you can sweep through the entire value range in less than one full turn. The Prophet Ά08 PE features three edit modes for the pots: Relative, Passthru, and Jump. In Relative mode, the value change is relative to the preset value. In Passthru mode, turning the pot has no effect until after the edited value equals the preset value (that is, until the edited value “passes through” the stored value). Jump mode uses an absolute value based upon the position of the pot when edited; turn a pot and the value jumps immediately from the stored value to the edited value. The Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08 Pot Edition Main Features Include: 38 of the 52 front panel parameters controlled by pots Encoders are “endless”—they have no minimum or maximum limit Three edit modes for the pots: Relative, Passthru, and Jump Pots typically have about 270° of travel and have definite limits Two analog oscillators per voice Classic Curtis analog low-pass filters Extensive modulation routing capabilities Four-on-four splits and layers with separate stereo outputs for each layer Arpeggiator, gated 16 x 4 step sequencer, and LFOs all syncable 5-octave keyboard with semi-weighted action, velocity, and aftertouch Spring-loaded pitch wheel and assignable mod wheel 256 fully editable Programs (2 banks of 128) with 2 Layers (2 separate sounds) in each Program 16 x 4 gated step sequencer Arpeggiator 2 digitally controlled analog oscillators (DCOs) per voice with selectable sawtooth, triangle, saw/triangle mix, and pulse waves (with pulse-width modulation), and hard sync White noise generator 1 Analog Curtis low-pass filter per voice, selectable 2- and 4-pole operation (self-resonating in 4-pole mode) 3 Envelope Generators: filter, VCA, and assignable (four-stage ADSR + delay); Envelope 3 can loop 4 LFOs Glide (portamento): separate rates per oscillator Analog VCAs MIDI In, Out, Thru, and Poly Chain Main stereo audio output: 1/4" unbalanced Output B stereo audio output: 1/4" unbalanced Sustain pedal input: accepts normally on or normally off momentary footswitch Pedal/CV input: responds to expression pedals or control voltages ranging from 0 to 5 VDC (protected against higher or negative voltages) Headphone output: 1/4" stereo phone jack Includes power supply for 110V – 240V AC operation (13-15 VDC, 400 mA) and operation manual.
