New for 2014 is our Sontronics ARIA valve/tube cardioid condenser microphone that has been developed and designed by Sontronics founder and designer Trevor Coley specifically for getting the best from your vocals. The Sontronics ARIA will give you stunning, beautiful results on every recording, thanks to its silky-smooth characteristics, its accurate response and our trademark Sontronics high-frequency roll-off.Housed inside the chromed grille is a large, 1.07-inch, edge-terminated capsule that captures all the detail and subtleties of any male or female vocal (sung or spoken) while the hand-selected European 12AX7/ECC83 tube lends a character that you'd expect to find in a classic vintage valve mic. For that extra level of control, the accompanying SPS-2 power supply unit boasts pad (0, -10dB) and filter (linear, 75Hz) switches as well as a tube-ready LED, letting you know when the mic is warmed up and at its best to record. Inside the unit is a pro-quality, medical-grade electricity filter to ensure that the power supply is pure and interference-free.During the 12 months of ARIA's development, it has been beta-tested by top artists and musicians including producer/writer Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & The Machine, Paul McCartney), singer/songwriter PJ Harvey, and also several engineers at Abbey Road Studios, all of whom now admit they can't live without their ARIAs! These and other users have all told us that ARIA's sound and quality is easily matched to mics (both modern and vintage) that cost ten times more. The result is a go-to microphone that's a must-have if you're serious about achieving the best results from vocals but that will also give beautiful results on piano, acoustic guitar, cello and other instruments as well as voiceover and broadcast. Sontronics ARIA really will take your breath away! The ARIA microphone is supplied in its own velvet-lined wooden box, which comes in an aluminium flightcase together with its elastic spider-style shockmount, a ring mount and the SPS-2 power supply, connecting cable and power lead. Like all our mics, Sontronics ARIA is covered by our no-nonsense.

The latest microphone to join the Sontronics family is yet another striking model, this time a dynamic microphone designed for use on guitar amps and cabinets. The HALO has a dynamic capsule suspended on four spring mounts within a circular frame that protects the microphone from vibrations and rumble on stage or in the studio.HALO is based on the Sontronics STC-80, a handheld dynamic microphone that gives stunning results on vocals, but has also been increasingly used to great effect on guitar amps for live and studio work. The HALO takes the same capsule, enhances it slightly to capture the exact frequencies of your guitar amp, and the result is all the bite, crunch and presence you could wish for without need to lay a finger on the EQ.
The STC-1S is a laboratory-matched pair of STC-1 cardioid microphones, ideally suited to stereophonic recording, whether you’re capturing a four-piece band or a full symphony orchestra. The variable filter and pad switches further enhance their versatility, allowing you to record many instrument sources, either acoustic or amplified. The STC-1S comes in a luxury wooden case, with mounting clips, windshields and a stereo mounting bar. It is also compatible with the Sontronics Omni and Hyper capsules. The STC-1S pair comes in classic silver or satin black.
The Sontronics ST-POP is an adjustable pop filter, and is an essential piece of equipment for anyone recording speech or vocals. The dual-layer nylon mesh significantly reduces the ‘popping’ noises associated with plosive consonants, such as ‘p’ and ‘b’. Similarly, the harshness caused by sibilant sounds – ‘s’, ‘z’, ‘sh’, ‘ch’ – is also dramatically reduced, helping you capture the best possible recording from the very beginning. The flexible arm allows simple and accurate positioning when clamped to any microphone stand. Maintenance is easy too: just unscrew the clamp at the bottom of the ring and remove the cartridge. This can be cleaned in warm, soapy water and left to dry naturally. A replacement nylon cartridge is also included, so that your Sontronics pop filter is always there when you need it.
With omni, cardioid and figure-of-eight patterns, as well as a 10dB cut/boost function, the ORPHEUS is the perfect workhorse in practically any studio or live sound application. Its low self-noise and unmistakable presence allow you to record the subtlest of instruments or voices without the need to edit afterwards. The highly sensitive 1.07-inch dual-diaphragm capsule is suspended in its own special mount, almost floating in the large, sppherical basket. The body is cast from zinc alloy, which gives almost zero resonance and helps to keep the signal crystal-clear.The ORPHEUS comes supplied in a luxury wooden case, lined with black velvet, and really does sound as good as it looks.TECHNICAL DATAResponse: 20Hz - 20kHzSensitivity: 20mV/Pa -32dB ±2dB (0dB = 1V/Pa 1,000Hz)Polar pattern: Omni, cardioid, figure-of-eightImpedance: ≤200 OhmsEquivalent noise level: 16dB (A-weighted)Max SPL (for 0.5% THD @ 1,000Hz): 125dBPower source: Phantom power 48V ±4V
