The 9000A integrated amplifier is at the center of Audiolab's focus as it is the heart of any high-performance audio system. It's more powerful, capable and feature-packed than any of the previous models – Audiolab's most advanced integrated amplifier to date.Versatility is key to the appeal of audiolab's integrated amplifier, and the 9000A caters to all audiophiles. It features digital and analog source connections, wireless connectivity for mobile devices, an all-new phono stage for vinyl playback, and Audiolab's best-known and acclaimed top-of-the-line amplification for speakers and headphones.Digital FaceMatching the modern hi-fi enthusiast’s requirements, the 9000A features a full-colour IPS LCD screen, offering clear and informative playback, source and file information. Not to mention a host of menu options for optimum performance and user-defined settings. Various display options are provided, which also include two VU meter options, allowing the 9000A to be visually informative or, in the case of ‘display off’ settings, a discreet centrepiece of any audio system.Flexible and CapableDifferentiating itself from rivals within its category, the audiolab 9000A blends digital capability with an analogue pedigree. Premium level D/A conversion, as one would always expect from audiolab, allows a range of digital sources (over four digital inputs) to be connected directly to this high-power integrated unit. Yet, based on over 40 years of amplifier design pedigree, not to mention a recent history of multi-award-winning audio solutions, the 9000A also caters for analogue device integrations (via three AUX, balanced XLR and a dedicated phono input). The 9000A is the brainchild of lead designer, Jan Ertner. Famed for a plethora of class-leading and award-winning audio electronic models, Jan has pushed the 9000A to the highest levels of performance by evolving and redeveloping the principles that created the 8300A and uber-successful 6000A, to deliver the most exceptional performance ever seen in an audiolab integrated amplifier.Flagship DACThe 9000A features the latest ESS 9038PRO flagship 32-bit DAC chip. Using the critically acclaimed patented HyperStream® II architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator, the ES9038PRO delivers an unprecedented performance level that will satisfy the needs of the most demanding audio applications – fitting an amplifier of the 9000A’s calibre.Years of experience and countless ESS-equipped models mean that audiolab is more than familiar with making the most of this technically excellent but challenging DAC technology. Great attention has been paid in developing a system that allows audiolab electronics and ESS DAC technology to offer the best in audiophile performance. The amp’s four S/PDIF digital inputs – two coaxial and two optical – handle hi-res PCM data up to 24-bit/192kHz and benefit from a host of user-selectable digital filters that allow the user to optimise the response to suit the source file and bandwidth of the partnering equipment.PCM audio is supported to 32-bit/768kHz, alongside DSD to 22.5MHz (DSD512). Every significant hi-res and lossless audio format is catered for, including FLAC, ALAC, AIFF and WAV, as well as compressed legacy formats.MQA All the WayThe 9000A also delivers full decoding of MQA, the hi-res streaming technology from a custom engineered MQA certified DAC solution. This means that the complete ‘three unfold’ decoding process is performed internally, as opposed to just the final unfold in the manner of an MQA ‘renderer’, which makes the 9000A an excellent system choice for subscribers to Tidal’s ‘HiFi Plus’ tier where Tidal Masters (MQA) content can be found. As expected for modern audio playback convenience, Bluetooth connectivity is featured as standard with the 9000A stepping up to the aptX HD protocol for sonically superior and easy wireless streaming from smartphones, tablets, laptops and more. Bluetooth-paired devices also benefit from the quality of the amp’s DAC section and filter options. The 9000A’s discrete Class AB power amp stage delivers 100W per channel into 8 ohms (160w per channel into 4 ohms!). Unlike over-specified competitor models, the genuine 100W per channel will put the 9000A up against the best in its class. Referring to the standards set with the audiolab 6000A (rated at 50W per channel), the 9000A’s 100W per channel will undoubtedly satisfy the most demanding of loudspeakers and their power-hungry masters.A key to the audiolab performance is the world-famous CFB (Complementary Feedback) topology, which ensures superior linearity and excellent thermal stability, as the idle current is kept independent of the temperature of the output transistors. An all-new and custom specified 320VA toroidal transformer, followed by 4 x 15,000uF reservoir capacity (60,000uF in total), helps the amp to maintain firm control of the music whilst enabling excellent dynamic range. In an effort to maintain consistent signal purity, with line input signals passing to a precision analogue volume stage, the preamp section is kept as simple as possible. As with all of Jan Ertner’s designs, the circuity is a work of art in more than layout and architecture. The very design protects the sensitive preamp section from noise interference and colouration – a key cornerstone of the audiolab philosophy.High-Performance Phono StageWith every iteration of integrated amplifier design, audiolab works to improve on the bench-mark, built-in phono stage section. The 9000A is no different; pushing the boundaries of performance of an onboard phono pre-amp section. The all-new phono pre-amp for 9000A offers compatibility for moving magnet – a JFET-based circuit with precise RIAA equalisation offers the best of both worlds for the turntable using audiolab fans.Similarly, for the headphone output stage employing current-feedback circuitry with wide bandwidth and high slew rate; the 9000A ensures a dynamic, detailed and engaging performance with all manner of headphone types, with that extra added audiolab sparkle from the consistent signal integrity from all inputs. The audiolab 9000A continues with the theme of flexibility in audio system integration. As is a staple to the audiolab integrated amplifier design, the 9000A offers three variations of operating mode, making it a versatile and essential component in any system.Power to the PeopleThe primary mode is ‘Integrated’ – this combines the pre and power amp stages, for the connection of digital and analogue sources to the amp’s inputs and a pair of speakers to its binding posts.‘Pre-Power Mode’ disconnects the pre and power amp stages. The allows the 9000A to be used solely as a power amp – for example, connected to an AV processor in a home cinema system. It also enables additional signal processing to be added, by connecting the 9000A’s ‘preamp out’ socket to an external processor, then returning the processor’s output to the amp’s ‘power amp in’ socket, making the most of its gargantuan 100W per channel performance and critical performance characteristic of the 9000A’s pre-section, regardless of what magic the users wants to implement in between! Finally, ‘Pre Mode’ disables the power amp stage, turning the 9000A into a still glorious standalone preamp. This enables external power amplification to be added, thus providing a possible upgrade path.Never before has audiolab visited this price and performance category; new standards are set.

Critically specified by Jan Ertner (head engineer of audiolab brand) the newly developed power supply features a powerful 250VA toroidal transformer, followed by 4x15000uF capacitors (60000uF in total), helping the amplifier to maintain control of the music while allowing excellent dynamic range range.Name Your SourceWhatever the input source - analog, digital, wireless or TV - the 7000A has been built with the same level of detail you've come to expect from audiolab, all with the latest technology, so it's fully equipped to meet many needs , yet maintaining a price point that keeps the audiolab brand at the forefront of quality home audio. Dual analog inputs cover CD playback and line-level sources, dual Coax and SPDIF inputs extend this for digital sources, while an aptX Bluetooth receiver offers a solution for wireless audio playback and smart devices. Following the growing trend for high-quality audio electronics to be integrated directly into the living room and there for more harmony as the center of your home audio system, the 7000A takes connectivity to a new dimension with its built-in Audio Return Channel (ARC) connection for use with televisions - thus bringing the dynamics of audiolab to music playback via TV applications and home theater. And let's not forget the direct connection to the computer via USB.Flagship DACAs usual with audiolab integrated amplifiers, the 7000A brings back natural integration and synergy with an ESS ES9038Q2M chip. Improving on the 6000A with this latest version and learning from the 9000A, the 7000A uses ESS Technology's 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator system. As with the 9000A, the 7000A uses a post-DAC filter based on Class A topology and a proprietary DC-coupled high-gain electronic amplifier design to deliver ultra-low noise and high dynamic range for the digital audio connoisseur.Flow TechnologyIn addition, the 7000A also provides full decoding of MQA, high-resolution streaming technology from a purpose-built MQA-certified DAC solution. This means that the full "three-deployment" decoding process is performed internally, as opposed to final development in the manner of an MQA "renderer", which makes the 7000A an excellent system choice for Tidal "HiFi Plus" subscribers, where they can to find Tidal Masters (MQA) content.Tables are TurningThe 6000A is applauded for its ability to offer an integrated phono preamp solution. The 7000A builds on this with a further improved phono stage for Moving Magnet (MM) Phono heads - using an improved version of the high-quality, low-noise MM Phono circuit and precise RIAA equalization that sets the benchmark for "on-board" phono preamplifier solutions. The same goes for the dedicated headphone output. Enhancing the 7000 series' claims of versatility, the separate headphone amplifier with current feedback circuit covers the head-fi hidden in the audiophile! Its wide gain bandwidth and high gain rate ensure a dynamic, detailed and engaging performance with all types of headphones - more points to add to this most comprehensive of integrated amplifiers...Improved InterfaceAs the engineers in the audiolab camp have learned with every model and series - greatness can be improved upon. Taking the 6000A as a model, audiolab knew that the average audiophile's thirst for specificity and features would mean that the much-anticipated linear upgrade from the 6000A would instinctively also include an improved display and more general user interface (GUI) - hence the vivid and visually informative 2.8″ (48 x 64mm) IPS display. The detailed yet simple-to-use GUI also carries over a general theme of information and structure from the 9000A, just in a more condensed style. The GUI includes settings for the digital phase-locked loop of the D/C converter.More than enough graphics(DPLL), brightness and modes. It can even be set to display a VU meter in 'analog' or 'digital' form - showing real-time decibel levels for the left and right channels - a satisfying graphical representation of the music as it plays. As with all audiolab electronic hi-fi components, the audiolab 7000A again offers remarkable sonic consistency, plenty of source and connectivity options and clean styling. Regardless of the source material and format, the 7000A is vibrant and charming, but also never loses focus on musicality and detail. The breadth, depth and pace that reaches audiences is assured. The benchmark in this price category has been raised - it is now in the 7000 series sector!
Positioned between the 6000 and 9000, the 7000 combines high-quality features in a price bracket that follows the standard of class-leading performance.Externally resembling the sequential series and therefore offering an identical visual aesthetic identity, the audiolab 7000A improves upon the 6000A with a true 70W output per channel, a new DAC, a new IPS LCD color display and more! Smaller in size than the 9000 series, it retains sharp ergonomics, high-quality engineering, a useful range of features and excellent overall acoustic performance and connectivity.Classes of A and Baudiolab makes no effort with the actual dimension of its power rating. The amplifier is the beating heart of any high-performance audio system, but in this day and age a truly versatile integrated amplifier must cover many needs - inputs for digital and analog sources, wireless connectivity for portable devices, a phono stage for vinyl playback, amplification for headphones and of course for speakers ... That's a tough bet to build while keeping performance high and price affordable - and yet, that's exactly what audiolab's 6000A integrated amplifier delivers. The Sound Of Silence Outwardly, the 6000A bears strong resemblance to the 8300A with its rotary controls and large, central OLED display. Unlike its costlier, analogue-only sibling, it incorporates high-quality D/A conversion, enabling digital sources to be connected directly without an external DAC. It supplies four digital inputs, three line-level analogue inputs, an input for a turntable, wireless connectivity via Bluetooth and a dedicated headphone amp, in addition to its ability when driving loudspeakers.Digital CircuitryMuch effort has been made to ensure the 6000A’s digital circuitry delivers the level of quality one might expect of a high-performance standalone DAC. As ever, Audiolab has turned to the ES9018 Sabre32 Reference chip family to perform D/A conversion, utilising ESS Technology’s 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator to deliver ultra-low noise and high dynamic range. No company knows more about making the most of this technically excellent, but challenging, DAC technology than Audiolab.Analogue CircuitryThe 6000A’s discrete Class AB power amp stage delivers 50W per channel into eight ohms, with a maximum current delivery of 9 Amps into difficult loads. The output stage of the discrete power amp circuits uses a CFB (Complementary Feedback) topology, ensuring superior linearity and excellent thermal stability, as the idle current is kept independent of the temperature of the output transistors.A substantial 200VA toroidal transformer, followed by 4x15000uF reservoir capacity (60000uF in total), helps the amp to maintain firm control of the music whilst enabling excellent dynamic range. The preamp section is kept as simple as possible to maintain signal purity, with line input signals passing to a precision analogue volume stage. The latter covers the range from -80dB to +8dB in steps of 2dB and 1dB (step resolution increases with volume position). Much effort has gone into the physical layout of the 6000A’s circuitry, protecting the sensitive preamp section from noise interference.

Magnat MA 700 - the pure doctrine of good soundWe are known for connecting things together and merging technologies. This is why our brand new MA 700 stereo amplifier offers the incomparable combination of tube technology for captivating sound and robust transistor power amplifiers, so that even larger speakers can be used without any problems. Beyond that, however, we have given the MA 700 everything it takes to be able to reproduce all your diverse media. In addition to all imaginable analogue and digital inputs as well as Bluetooth, this also includes an HDMI input. And that makes our amplifier a real all-rounder.THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS - TUBE SOUND AND TRANSISTOR PERFORMANCEAnyone who knows us knows that we do not compromise. But doesn't every technology have to make some concessions? Tubes sound fantastic because they generate harmonic waves that perfectly round off the sound. However, it is difficult to get enough power from them for demanding speakers. Transistor amplifiers do develop this power, on the other hand. That’s why we have combined the two. The low-noise tube preamplifier of the MA 700 features the now legendary ECC 81 double triode tube. This is carefully selected and "burned in" so that we can guarantee for each MA 700 that everything is perfectly coordinated for you to enjoy music for years to come. The powerful and highly efficient transistors then take care of amplifying the music signals - and do it properly. 70 watts of continuous power are available per channel. At its peak, the MA 700 delivers a system output of 250 watts.MA 700 - THIS IS HOW TELEVISION CAN BENEFIT FROM TUBE SOUNDEvery signal, whether from the five analogue inputs, two digital inputs or via the Bluetooth receiver with its lossless aptX standard, can enjoy the musical wellness treatment provided by the tube preamp - this is also true for the HDMI input. All digital signals first pass through an extremely high-quality D/A converter. An HDMI input on the stereo amplifier? But of course! If this is connected to the back-channel HDMI output on the TV set, which can be recognised by the abbreviation ARC, all audio signals from the TV and the connected sources then also go through the MA 700. That means tube sound for everyone, even for a connected game console or the set-top box. And as our HDMI input is CEC-capable, the volume can be easily controlled afterwards using the TV remote control.MA 700 DESIGN: REDUCED FOR FULL FOCUS ON MUSICAL ESCAPADESThe design of the MA 700? Reduced to the maximum - after all, nothing should distract from the music, but instead prepare everything for it. The full metal housing is embellished by a solid aluminum front panel. Nine LEDs indicate the currently selected input. These can be dimmed in two stages. The controls, i.e. the rotary controls for input selection, balance, bass and treble, as well as the large-format volume control, are also made of solid aluminum. On the right side, the - in the truest sense of the word - optical highlight: The round window through which the tube glows magically. We have equipped the back of the MA 700 with solid speaker terminalsA HYBRID AMPLIFIER FOR ALL MEDIAIf you are enthusiastic about hi-fi components with classic dimensions, you no longer have to compromise on media suitability. Our MA 700 hybrid stereo amplifier combines the power of transistors with the sensitivity of tube technology. Added to this is the variety of connections up to and including Bluetooth 5.0 aptX and, as an absolute highlight, the possibility of bringing the TV set with all its sources into the hi-fi world via HDMI.

In 1990, Musical Fidelity made the first-ever Super Integrated amplifier: the A1000. lt received a rapturous welcome and, even today, second hand, is selling at high prices. The A1000 was the first of a long line of Super Integrated Amplifiers from Musical Fidelity. Its children: the NuVista M3, Tri Vista 300, kW500, M6/500i, NuVista 800 and NuVista 600 all were equally enthusiastically welcomed to the audiophile world. The M8xi is the latest and the best of the breed. General Description The M8xi is a separate preamp with two monobloc power amps sharing a common chassis. Each has its own heat sink and separate transformer. Genuinely dual mono. The preamp has its own separate power supply and is mounted close to the input sockets. Consequently, PCB tracks are very short. This elegant idea ensures that both channels' signals are ultra-low impedance the instant they get into the amplifier. This is a significant detail. Each channel has twelve big bipolar transistors - 200 amps peak to peak is easily available. The metalwork is high quality. The front panel is a custom made fine line extrusion of milspec aluminum. The custom made heat sinks have outstanding dissipation characteristics and finish. The M8xi construction has a feeling of solidity and quality. New Circuitry Over the last 5 years our power amp circuitry has reached a high state of development. In our never-ending quest for improving performance and customer value we have been looking for ways to improve our designs. One of the prime directives was to keep the low feedback configuration unchanged .. continue with low feedback! The problem was how to improve efficiency and performance without affecting the sound quality. If I say so myself, I think we have come up with a brilliant solution. Our new M8xi power amp design gives higher power, lower distortion, and better sound quality. Incredible but true. The output stage efficiency has been increased thus yielding about 10% more power for similar power supply voltage. More importantly, the whole driver stage is pure Class A. We believe that this innovative approach has a substantial effect on the sound quality. The sound stage appears wider whilst the micro and macro dynamics have more impact. This effect is particularly noticeable on well-recorded piano. I am sure you all know the piano is a percussive instrument but in truth, this is rarely audible on most Hi-Fi systems. Using an M8xi a piano‘s percussive nature becomes instantly obvious and jumps out of the loudspeaker. lt is a surprising and satisfying improvement to the sound quality. Vocals have more subtly, detail and presence. Large scale music has depth, width, and incredibly dynamic presentation. All in all the M8xi is a consummate all-rounder. Mostly it sounds like a small Class A amplifier with huge power. The DAC The M8xi also features a 5 input DAC. DACs are increasingly common in integrated amplifier designs to add convenience when connecting a variety of digital sources, so the decision was taken to build-in a DAC that would perform to a high standard, independently of the amplifier. For added integrity, the DAC features its own power supply. Based around the Texas Instruments PCM5242 TI low-distortion and low-noise DAC chip, which is also employed in many other premium products in the hi-fi industry as well as in previous Musical Fidelity products, the M8xi has 2 x coaxial (S/PDIF), 2 x optical (S/PDIF) and 1 x asynchronous USB Type-B inputs. The coaxial and the USB inputs are capable of supporting hi-res audio streams up-to 24-bit / 192kHz, and the optical input is capable of supporting up-to 24-bit / 96kHz. For maximal performance, all data streams are up-sampled and re-clocked by an internal converter to reduce jitter and remove unwanted artifacts in the sound. Technical Performance The M8xi delivers 550 + 550wpc into 8 ohms. It is extremely stable and very linear. The distortion is low too; lower than 0.005% in the audible frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The M8xi has remarkable linearity and consistency. lt is unconditionally stable and will drive any loudspeaker in existence easily with ample power reserve. Our Approach to Technical Measurements In our view an amplifier should be completely neutral. lt is ‚a straight wire with gain‘. Easy to say but hard and complex to do. We want to stress that we do not believe that the technical performance is an end in itself. lt is a method of validating the total amplifier system concept. The aim of our circuit/PCB designs is to have low feedback and achieve complete neutrality, transparency, and great technical performance. The proof that we are on the right track is the technical performance. We think that technical performance cannot be summed up by the distortion at 1 kHz. Our view is that an amplifier has to be able to satisfy a wide range of technical requirements before it can be neutral. Linearity Almost all loudspeakers have complex impedance and loading curves. An amplifier must be able to maintain its voltage virtually, regardless of loading. If an amplifier cannot maintain its voltage across the spectrum, then the ultimate frequency response and distortion will be nonlinear. This is not neutrality. Distortion The overwhelming majority of amplifier manufacturers only talk about distortion at 1 kHz. We believe that this is only a fraction of the story. From our perspective, an amplifier must have very low distortion from 20 Hz- 20 kHz and beyond. We believe that an amplifier‘s high-frequency performance proves the total performance of the circuit and PCB layout. The M8xi distortion hardly changes from 10 kHz to 50 kHz. An outstanding achievement and validation of the circuit design and PCB layout. Noise Ratio Amplifiers should be quiet. If they are not, low-level detail is irretrievably lost. Also, the dynamic range is seriously compromised. Dynamic range is not just how much power an amplifier will produce, it is also how quiet it can be. Dynamic range is the total from the quietest to the loudest. The M8xi excels in this respect. Precision Volume Control The M8xi has a precision volume control. This ensures perfect tracking right down to very low levels which is unattainable with standard potentiometers. This outstanding precision is achieved by laser-trimmed substrate resistors. Sound Quality The M8xi is effortless, fluid, and dynamic. lt doesn‘t sound ‚loud‘. lt just sounds right. The dynamics are handled with no drama or fuss. They come and they go. There is no distortion; just pure undiluted music. lt sounds like a superb small Class A amplifier but with limitless headroom. Perfection!

Perfection!
JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise-shaping Optimization) In order to faithfully transmit the massive amount of audio data sent to the speakers without loss, the SU-G700M2 power amp section uses full digital amplification employing the JENO Engine, based on the design concept of reference systems. In order to solve the issue of sound quality degradation due to jitter, which poses problems for conventional digital amplifiers, the SU-G700M2 has an original jitter reduction circuit that eliminates jitter over the entire audible frequency range. Also, a unique, high-precision PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) conversion circuit is used for PWM conversion, which is important for sound quality. By optimising items such as the noise-shaping speed, degree, and quantization number through our unique expertise, data even in the wide dynamic range contained in high-resolution sound sources is converted to PWM signals without loss. These technologies provide reproduction of natural and finely detailed sound, enabling perception even of delicate music nuances. LAPC (Load Adaptive Phase Calibration) Speaker impedance changes with each frequency and a power amplifier is required to drive speakers without being affected by the speaker’s characteristics. However, conventional digital amplifiers are connected to speakers through a low-pass filter at the output stage, so they are even more strongly affected by the speaker impedance characteristics. Also, although the amplitude characteristics of conventional amplifiers due to negative feedback were improved, the phase characteristics could not be enhanced. We thus developed a speaker impedance adaptive optimisation algorithm that performs correction to the ideal impulse response through digital signal processing by measuring the frequency amplitude-phase characteristics of the amplifier with the speakers connected. This new technique enables flattening the frequency characteristics of amplitude and phase, which had previously not been achieved by amplifiers, as well as delivering a sound with rich spatial expression. Advanced Speed Silent Power Supply The power supply technology incorporated in the reference-class model SU-R1000 has been employed for improved speaker drive power and a greater feel of energy. The switching frequency has been increased from the conventional 100kHz band to the 400kHz band to ensure stable supply of voltage and current and to reduce adverse effects of modulation noise on the audio quality. The device is equipped with the same GaN FET and SiC SBD as those mounted in the SU-R1000 to deliver maximum performance from the high-speed switching power supply system. What’s more, a Super Low Noise Regulator is provided in the later stage. It prevents the decrease of regulation due to fixed switching frequency and impedes the mixing of noise component into high frequencies. The result is a low-noise and high-response power supply that maximises the performance of the digital amplifier. Three-section Configuration In integrated amplifiers there are a variety of circuits, including circuits that handle the micro-signals of inputs and those that handle a large current, such as output circuits and power-supply circuits. The SU-G700M2 uses a three-section construction with partitions installed between the circuit blocks according to the signal level handled. This eliminates interference between circuit blocks, thus achieving clear sound quality. In addition to the three-section construction, the SU-G700M2 comes with a bottom chassis featuring a two-layer construction with 1.2-mm-thick and 2-mm-thick steel plates, a top panel made of a 1.6-mm-thick steel plate and a 7-mm-thick aluminium front panel for improved vibration damping. Low-noise PHONO Input PHONO MC input is now supported. The PHONO input achieves low noise by using a differential parallel connection configuration of a first-stage, low-noise FET. In addition, four-level gain adjustment enables selection of the best gain according to the cartridge output. This enables optimal playback of high-grade analogue recorded sound sources tailored to the user’s environment. Class AA Headphone Amplifier The SU-G700M2 uses a Class AA headphone amplifier with separate amplifier circuits for voltage amplification and current amplification of the audio signal. The voltage is amplified by a high-grade operational amplifier, the current is amplified by an operational amplifier with high current-supply capability, and the high-grade PWM signal output from the JENO Engine is converted to analogue with high precision, thus enabling headphones to be ideally driven. This makes it possible to reproduce music with low distortion and a wide frequency range no matter what the load impedance of the headphones is.

JENO Engine Jitter is a major cause of distortion in digital systems, and is caused by mis-timing in the master clocks used in digital-to-analogue conversion. To eliminate the degradation of sound caused by jitter, Technics has developed an original jitter reduction circuit, comprising a clock generator in the noise-shaping system to reduce jitter in the low-frequency range and a high-precision sample rate converter for suppressing jitter in the high-frequency range. Thus it reduces jitter in an ideal way over the entire frequency range. This works with original high-precision PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) conversion circuit, optimising the noise-shaping speed, the degree and re-quantisation number, and the PWM gradation, in order to convert high-resolution signals to PWM without causing any damage to the dynamic range. These technologies enable Technics digital amplifier designs to reproduce the natural and delicate nuances of music. ADCT (Active Distortion Cancelling Technology) The Active Distortion Cancelling Technology newly developed by Technics accurately extracts and removes distortion in the power output stage which is generated by the speaker’s counter electromotive force and voltage drops. In the Hi-Fi audio market where an unlimited number of audio systems can be configured by combining various products, high-end audio amplifiers need to optimally drive a diversity of speakers. The Active Distortion Cancelling Technology accurately extracts distortion by determining the difference between the speaker terminal output and JENO output and then applies correction to the output digital signal, thus correcting the conventional digital amp system. This provides powerful speaker driving force and acoustic energy while offering the superior benefits of a digital amplifier, such as low noise, precise sound image and expansive sound ambience, regardless of the types of connected speakers. Advanced Speed Silent Power Supply The SU-R1000 uses a switching power supply system to ensure a stable supply of voltage and current required by the digital amp. In a conventional switching power supply system, the ON time of the switching operation was controlled in order to stabilise the voltage, and this causes the switching frequency to fluctuate according to the load, resulting in a modulation noise to affect the sound quality. The Advanced Speed Silent Power Supply has eliminated this noise by fixing the switching frequency in the 400kHz band. Furthermore, a Super Low Noise Regulator is provided in the later stage. This prevents the decrease of regulation resulting from the fixed switching frequency and impedes the mixing of noise component into high frequencies. The result is a high-response power supply that results in the best performance from the digital amplifier. Four Independent Power Supply Units In the SU-R1000, every element comprising the power supply has been diligently studied and revised for higher sound quality. What’s more, four independent power supply units are provided for different circuit blocks for further enhancement of sound quality. Since the SU-R1000 is an integrated amplifier, the internal circuits consist of a pre-amp stage and power amp stage in a mix of analogue and digital circuits. The Phono-EQ section which processes minute analogue signals is particularly susceptible to the effect of noise transmitted through the power supply line. The SU-R1000 uses separate power supply units for the analogue circuits and digital circuits in the pre-amp stage. It also uses separate power supply units for the right and left channels in the power amp stage that requires large electrical power. With the four independent power supply units, the SU-R1000 prevents power-line-induced interference among the circuit blocks and realises a high S/N ratio and superb separation. High-grade Digital/Analog I/O Circuit The phono input section and analogue input section feature a full-discrete circuit design. Technics has realised an ideal, symmetrical circuit layout and performed meticulous tuning. The new circuits prevent interference between the right and left channels and achieve excellent channel separation. Furthermore, the phono input section and XLR input section employ completely balanced transmission to ensure high-purity signal transmission with minimum effect of noise. The USB input circuit in the digital input section is equipped with a capacitor of high-quality ruby mica and a power conditioner with nonmagnetic carbon film resistors for blocking electrical noise e.g. from a PC and for minimising the effect of external noise. The A/D converter incorporates a high-performance chip made by Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) for high-precision A/D conversion. Thus, the SU-R1000 reproduces outstanding sound quality from any analogue or digital input sources. High Rigidity Chassis and Design The rigidity of the chassis has been enhanced extensively to suppress the enclosure vibration that is also a source of noise. The inner chassis features a double-deck separated structure. Mounted on the upper deck is the power amp section consisting of the amplification circuit and its power supply circuit. Installed on the lower deck is the pre-amp section which is comprised of the analogue input section, including the phono equaliser, and the digital input section as well as the power supply circuits for those circuits. Not only the upper and lower decks but also individual circuit blocks are separated from one another by steel shield plates. These steel shield plates also serve as reinforcing plates for strengthening the rigidity of the entire chassis. On the outside, the front panel is 10-mm thick, while the side panels and top panel are made of 6-mm-thick alumite-treated aluminum plates. They have also improved the rigidity and vibration resistance. The insulators that support the chassis are made of cast iron with excellent signal attenuation characteristics. All in all, the above parts and materials enhance the quality of internal signals and eliminate the effects of external vibrations at highest levels. Input and output terminals made of meticulously selected high-quality parts - Speaker terminals designed to allow connection of extra-large diameter speaker cables - Y-lug terminals for ensuring reliable cable connection - Neutrik-manufactured analogue balance input terminals and PHONO XLR input terminals (exclusively for MC) - Analogue input terminals with gold-plated, machined brass parts Technics’ refined design - Attractive front panel embellished with high-quality hairline surface finish and equipped with an iconic, large dual-needle meter - Volume dial and selector knob made of parts machined from solid aluminum blocks and spin-finished Intelligent Phono EQ The Intelligent Phono EQ mounted in the SU-R1000 utilises the sound quality improvement technology for DSP, which Technics has accumulated through the development of LAPC, in order to realise high sound quality not possible with analogue Phono-EQ. This technology consists of three parts: 1. Accurate EQ Curve, 2. Crosstalk Canceller and 3. Response Optimiser. These functions can be turned ON/OFF to suit the user’s preference. Accurate EQ Curve – Made possible by hybrid analogue/digital circuit design An accurate EQ curve is achieved by a hybrid analogue-digital system. The high-gain low-pass filter (LPF) performs analogue processing, while high frequencies are raised after the A/D conversion. The use of the 40-dB LPF(Low-pass filter) in the analogue region suppresses the bit loss during digital filter processing, and high frequencies are raised with high accuracy in the digital region to achieve a high S/N ratio. Crosstalk Canceller - For measurement and improvement of crosstalk characteristic unique to each cartridge This function measures the crosstalk characteristic of the installed cartridge by using the crosstalk measuring signal recorded on the Calibration Record bundled with the SU-R1000. It then performs reverse-correction using the built-in DSP to achieve significant improvement of the crosstalk characteristic. This results in a more precise sound image and a wider sound ambience. Phono Response Optimiser - For correction of disturbance in cartridge frequency characteristics This function measures the frequency characteristics of the installed pickup cartridge by using a TSP (Time Stretched Pulse) signal recorded on the bundled Calibration Record, and corrects characteristics disturbance. It corrects the effect of impedance matching between the pickup cartridge and the phono equaliser to reveal the true sound quality of the cartridge. This technology aims to improve sound quality by avoiding a selector such as a switch in the high-sensitivity phono input line for the removal of the possibility of noise disturbance. *Although the record may be warped depending on the production method or its characteristics, this record passed the test for proper signal reading and is shipped. *The record may be warped depending on the storage environment in your house. Please note a badly warped record may not only disturb the measurement but also hurt the cartridge.
