What does this mean?When you listen to a stereo speaker set, you hear information about where the instruments and players were placed when the material was recorded. Even with purely digital material, producers can manipulate the physical locations of the elements in the mix, and you will hear them in a stereo recording.Not only does this allow producers to create interesting spatial effects, but it also means that you can work faster and with more confidence. An accurate audio track lets you see every element of the mix in front of you, so you can hear exactly what happens when you make changes.2-way systems with good waveguides, such as Kali's LP-6 and LP-8, do a good job of transmitting this spatial information. However, because the tweeters and woofers on these speakers (and most studio monitors!) Are separate, this information is lost in the space just above and below the speaker. This means that in the listening position, you do not hear the full stereo image.IN-8 solves this problem. The tweeter and the middle section share an audio center and the Woofer traverses 330 Hz, so the distance between the Woofer and the medium size is much less than a quarter of the wavelength at the junction. This means that the IN-8 is an acoustic point source. Therefore, it has the same excellent directionality that the LP-6 and LP-8 have on their sides at a full 360 degrees around the speaker. You listen to all the space information in the listening position, so the sound scene you hear will have every detail in the mix.ClarityThe total harmonic distortion of the IN-8 is less than 1.4%, which is excellent. This is the result of both Woofer and Tweeter unloading, so they both do less work. The Woofer is clocked at 330 Hz, 2.5 octaves lower than the LP-8.Tweeter traverses at 3000 Hz, almost an octave higher than the LP-8. Take up space between the hero of the IN-8 system: the 4-inch, optimized mid-profile driver profile. This guide has a lot of work to do. In addition to playing the midrange, it also acts as a waveguide for Tweeter. This means that the shape must be precisely constructed to provide an ideal dispersion characteristic of Tweeter.It also means that the medium intervals must remain stationary. In many other coaxial or concentric systems, the large deviation from the larger guide causes a distortion of the body and degrades the accuracy of the system. The midline in the IN-8 2nd Wave is limited to a top deflection of less than 1 millimeter, making the headset stagnant while still providing mid-range to keep up with the powerful woofer and Tweeter.Easy useMarginal EQ controlThe given speaker position in a room can drastically change the frequency response. A speaker mounted against a wall or desk will sound very different from a speaker mounted on a stand, even in a well-crafted space. Hard surfaces such as walls, desktops, and recording consoles can alter the screen's low-frequency response and degrade overall sound clarity.Fortunately, most of the common positions are quite predictable and easily corrected.Kali's team did the Boundary EQ tuning at The Village Studios in Los Angeles and found EQ settings for offsetting to help you get the perfect sound for where to place your speakers.Combined with the LF and HF fins, this will ensure that the speakers sound better, regardless of the room in which you mix or where the speakers are placed.

The bass and mid woofers in our SC4070 feature our very low distortion copper cap magnet system. The combination of our unique glass fibre coated diaphragm and a very stiff but light honeycomb structure reproduces sound spectacularly detailed and clear. Our proprietary Air Motion Transformer AMT RS3.1 completes SC4070. The core of those AMT tweeters is a folded membrane that works in a powerful magnetic field of a large neodymium magnet. Due to design changes like new materials, improved inner damping construction and a more efficient magnet field SC4070 delivers a higher sound pressure level with virtually no distortion even at high output levels. This AMT RS3.1 can achieve to reproduce a frequency response up to 40 kHz. Each chassis in SC4070 is fitted with its own PWM amplifier for total short-term output power of 1000 W. With a max output level of 126dB (SPL @ 1m, half space, pair) mixes can be judged precisely, whatever their intended output level is. The SC4070 combines perfectly powerful bass with very transparent midrange and crystal clear but silky-smooth high frequencies and is predestined to be the perfect work piece for mid to large size control rooms where quality and consistent power output are important variables. As with every other EVE Audio studio monitor you get both balanced XLR input and unbalanced RCA input for greater convenience. Dsp / Smart-Knob All EVE Audio monitors feature a high-resolution DSP electronics. A high-quality analog/digital converter from BurrBrown (24bit/192kHz) converts the analog input signal supplied via RCA or XLR. The DSP ensures latency-free filtering and simultaneously protects the entire frequency range from overload. When switched on, the volume of the monitor increases slowly to leave enough time to reduce the source volume if the input signal is too loud. Adjustments to the acoustic environment can be made via the front rotary/pressure encoder, the SMART-knob with rotating LED ring. This knob allows the levelling of system volume as well as the adjustment of filters for room variables (low shelf, mid eq and high shelf filters). All settings are displayed on the LED ring, providing instant information about the selected values. The brightness of the LED ring can be adjusted for dark studios or video applications. High-quality Class D amplifiers complete the system and deliver enough power to the demands of modern music production. Selected volume and/or filter settings can be independently fixed with DIP-switches that are positioned on the rear of the amplifier to prevent unauthorised or unintentional adjustments. Bass Port Design It's all in the geometry. One of the downside effects of port compression is bass distortion. As you turn up the volume, the efficiency of the port reduces and distortion will increase. We opted for a large rear rectangular port with no hard edges for our bass port designs. That's one of the reasons EVE monitors have a high efficiency on the lower frequencies. The results? High sound pressures with tight and punchy bass frequencies that don't cause port distortion. Crank up the volume, and EVE will deliver a round bass. And with no holes to look at every time you glance at your speakers.

Under the hood: how to set up Core 7 for your studio The active Dynaudio AIR series was famous for its advanced digital signal processing. Our acoustic engineers continued this forward-thinking approach by taking the past 18 years’ worth of DSP innovation and applying it in a simple, easy to use system with the Core series. Make no mistake, though: under the hood is a sophisticated system that makes light work of challenging studio environments. Positioning is critical when installing a monitor system. That’s why each Core 7 has two DSP filter switches to address its position and boundary locations. For example, if you place the monitors on the meter bridge of a large-format mixing console, set them to ‘Desk’. This will help compensate for the first reflection created by the mixing surface. On the other hand, if you put the monitors into a purpose-built wall, setting the Position 1 filter to ‘Soffit’ will compensate for the increased bass response. Boundary effects created by placing a monitor close to walls or a ceiling can be compensated for by adjusting the Position 2 filter between ‘Wall’ or ‘Corner’. These filters help compensate for the reflections created by the boundary walls, especially in the lower frequencies. There’s also a low-frequency 80Hz Linkwitz-Riley cutoff that can be engaged if you’re using Core 7 with a subwoofer to extend the low frequency response. Users can also alter the overall presentation. Core 7 uses the same concept as the LYD series Sound Balance filter – a different design to typical shelving-EQ tweeter and woofer adjustments found on most active monitors. Instead of simply fine-tuning the tweeter level up or down, which will affect phase response, Core 7 uses a full-spectrum band-pass filter that tilts depending on the desired tonal response. In the ‘Dark’ setting, the entire frequency response is tilted so that 20kHz is down -1.5dB, while 20Hz is up +1.5dB. In ‘Bright’, the tilt is reversed (+1.5dB at 20kHz and -1.5dB at 20Hz). This gentle filter maintains the proper phase response between the drivers while providing the tone that meet your tastes. The changes are subtle, but often this little tweak is enough to make the sound balance just right. Input sensitivity the way you want it The noise-floor and signal resolution of any monitoring system is critical to its performance. Whether you’re using the analogue or digital inputs, you need to be able to control the gain staging between the monitor controller and the speaker system. We’ve provided a range of 0dBu to +24dBu to match the analogue input sensitivity to the output level. Once optimised, Core 7 processes all analogue signals at a 192kHz sampling rate and 64-bit resolution in the DSP (from the 24-bit analogue-to-digital converter) for the greatest degree of mathematical precision. There’s a switch to determine the maximum output SPL with the greatest bit-depth in the DSP. If you want the maximum level, set this to 112dB. If you work mostly at lower levels, choose a lower SPL setting to optimise the bit-depth of the DSP for both inputs. When using the AES digital inputs, you must determine which channel (left or right) of the AES stream is used for that monitor. Core 7’s DSP operates at the incoming sample rate and either locks to the digital audio clock or word clock to maintain the most accurate signal possible. Placement options: all of them We’ve made sure Core 7’s cabinet is as stiff and inert as we could make it – hence the 32mm thick baffle, which contributes to its excellent linearity across the spectrum. Since every application is unique and monitors need to be placed in a variety of environments – either on their sides, vertically or sometimes even inverted with the woofer above the tweeter – we’ve designed Core 7 with indentations on all four sides. We’ve even developed special pads that can be placed in order to protect the cabinet's finish and stabilise the cabinet on the surface. That goes for multi-channel set-ups, too: we also have custom K&M brackets to mount Core 7 in orientations suitable for surround sound, immersive audio (such as Dolby ATMOS) and other custom configurations. With crossover points at 385Hz and 5kHz, Core 59 delivers so much more of the critical vocal range in one driver than typical designs, ensuring your mix decisions on vocal balances and dialogue subtleties are made with total confidence.
 Core 59’s new bass driver has emerged from over 18 months of intensive study into subwoofer driver technology, including our 18S subwoofer, which dives all the way down to 16Hz. The outcome of that research is a new copper voice-coil and glass-fibre former, pushed by ceramic magnets and a 500W class-D Pascal amplifier. It gives the 9in long-excursion woofer even more grip on the bottom without sacrificing a deep frequency response. And because each driver is handmade in our factory in Denmark (we produce 1.4 million drivers each year for our home hi-fi, custom-install, in-car and pro-studio speakers), we can maintain incredible consistency. That means you can use Core monitors in multiple studios and have them all sound and perform at the same high level – everything you need to hear, everywhere you go. Should you need to replace a driver, you can either do it yourself and calibrate it to within 0.2dB as on the AIR series, or have your service centre do a full factory-level calibration. Ultra-flexible positioning and the Orbit baffle When we revolutionised studio monitoring with the AIR series, we also revolutionised speaker positioning. Literally. AIR made it possible to use a three-way speaker in multiple orientations without compromising the midrange driver and tweeter’s phase response by using sealed midrange and tweeter assemblies that can be rotated in the cabinet. Core 59’s Orbit baffle rotates too, so you can use it in left, right, or centre-channel orientation. You can even position the woofer above the tweeter/midrange assembly to accommodate placement in front of a console in an LCR array. Since every application is unique and monitors may need to be placed in a variety of environments – on their sides, vertically or sometimes even inverted – we’ve given Core 59 indentations on all four sides. Just fit our special Dynaudio pads to protect the cabinet's finish and stabilise it on the mounting surface. Core 59 is also compatible with standard VESA mounting brackets or our custom K&M bracket should you want to mount them on walls or the ceiling as part of a multichannel or immersive-audio reference system such as Dolby ATMOS. Sophisticated DSP that’s surprisingly easy to use The AIR series was famous for its advanced DSP system. But our acoustic engineers don’t believe laurels are for resting on, so they’ve constantly been looking for better and more innovative ways of doing it. That work has resulted in some great leaps in DSP sophistication – but also in the way it’s applied in everyday use. You, our users, wanted something easier to use, and that’s exactly what you get with Core – with even better performance. Positioning is critical when installing a monitor system. That’s why each Core 59 has two DSP filter switches to address its position and boundary locations. For example, if you place the monitors on the meter bridge of a large-format mixing console, set them to ‘Desk’. This will help compensate for the first reflection created by the mixing surface. On the other hand, if you put the monitors into a purpose-built wall, setting the Position 1 filter to ‘Soffit’ will compensate for the increased bass response. Boundary effects created by placing a monitor close to walls or a ceiling can be compensated for by adjusting the Position 2 filter between ‘Wall’ or ‘Corner’. These filters help compensate for the reflections created by the boundary walls, especially in the lower frequencies. There’s also a low-frequency 80Hz Linkwitz-Riley cutoff that can be engaged if you’re using Core 59 with a subwoofer to extend the low frequency response. Users can also alter the overall presentation. Core 59 uses the same concept as the LYD series Sound Balance filter – a different design to typical shelving-EQ tweeter and woofer adjustments found on most active monitors. Instead of simply fine-tuning the tweeter level up or down, which will affect phase response, Core 59 uses a full-spectrum band-pass filter that tilts depending on the desired tonal response. In the ‘Dark’ setting, the entire frequency response is tilted so that 20kHz is down -1.5dB, while 20Hz is up +1.5dB. In ‘Bright’, the tilt is reversed (+1.5dB at 20kHz and -1.5dB at 20Hz). This gentle filter maintains the proper phase response between the drivers while providing the tone that meet your tastes. The changes are subtle, but often this little tweak is enough to make the sound balance just right. Input sensitivity the way you want it The noise-floor and signal resolution of any monitoring system is critical to its performance. Whether you’re using the analogue or digital inputs, you need to be able to control the gain staging between the monitor controller and the speaker system. We’ve provided a range of 0dBu to +24dBu to match the analogue input sensitivity to the output level. Once optimised, Core 59 processes all analogue signals at a 192kHz sampling rate and 64-bit resolution in the DSP (from the 24-bit analogue-to-digital converter) for the greatest degree of mathematical precision. There’s a switch to determine the maximum output SPL with the greatest bit-depth in the DSP. If you want the maximum level, set this to 112dB. If you work mostly at lower levels, choose a lower SPL setting to optimise the bit-depth of the DSP for both inputs. When using the AES digital inputs, you must determine which channel (left or right) of the AES stream is used for that monitor. Core 59’s DSP operates at the incoming sample rate and either locks to the digital audio clock or word clock to maintain the most accurate signal possible.
